Guepe Class Induction 1982 Sport(s) A great running back at Marquette, Mr. Guepe became the first person to score a touchdown in Cotton Bowl history by running back a punt in the 1937 game. After World War II he became head football coach at theUniversity of Virginia where he posted an impressive 47-17-2 record. He went on to take the head football position at Vanderbilt University where he coached the Commodores from 1953-1962. He as served as Vanderbilt athletic director during his time in Nashville. Mr. Guepe became the Ohio Valley Conference commissioner in 1963 and guided the Conference until 1975.
