Patty Class Induction 1993 Sport(s) Although Dr. Patty served as MTSU’s head basketball and assistant football coach, it was his time as the Blue Raiders head golf coach is what he is remembered for. Over a span of 35 years, Patty’s golf teams won 85 individual and team championships which included 10 OVC titles. Other career golfing accomplishments include a team national title, six All-Americans, and two individual golf champions. Patty was bestowed with the 1965 College Division Coach of the Year honor; he also picked up six OVC Coach of the Year awards during his tenure at MTSU. In 1986 Coach Patty was inducted into the National Golf Coaches Hall of Fame.
