Although Dr. Patty served as MTSU’s head basketball and assistant football coach, it was his time as the Blue Raiders head golf coach is what he is remembered for. Over a span of 35 years, Patty’s golf teams won 85 individual and team championships which included 10 OVC titles.
Other career golfing accomplishments include a team national title, six All-Americans, and two individual golf champions. Patty was bestowed with the 1965 College Division Coach of the Year honor; he also picked up six OVC Coach of the Year awards during his tenure at MTSU. In 1986 Coach Patty was inducted into the National Golf Coaches Hall of Fame.
