From 1987-2002, Larimore led the Golden Eagle athletic program to All-Sport Championships on both the men’s and women’s side as well as 33 OVC team championships in 11 different sports. He was also instrumental in working with former Ohio Valley Conference commissioners Jim Delaney and Dan Beebe to solidify the league’s Division I status. Larimore’s athletics program was recognized by the Office of Civil Rights as being in observance with all Title IX guidelines. During Dr. Larimore’s tenure he started up the women’s soccer team, revived the women’s track and field program after over ten years since its last competition, and helped build the women’s golf and softball teams into conference title contending programs. Larimore’s commitment to academics was apparent in that many Tech student-athletes were selected to Academic All-America and Academic All-District teams. Dr. Larimore also saw Golden Eagle student-athletes post a higher graduation rate than that of the normal student body during his time as athletic director.
