When Super Bowl XLVII kicks off Sunday in New Orleans, two people involved with the game will have ties to the Ohio Valley Conference.
Former Tennessee State student-athletes
Anthony Levine and
Lamar Divens are on the respective rosters of the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Levine is currently injured and on the Ravens IR list while Divens is on the 49ers practice squad.
Levine was a part of the Green Bay Packers Super Bowl winning team two years ago bringing TSU's count to 12 players who are members of a Super Bowl Championship team. The safety had spent the past two seasons on the Packers' practice squad before signing with Baltimore earlier this season. Levine saw game action twice this season in week 11 at Pittsburgh and recorded a tackle at San Diego during week 12
Divens was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He has also spent time with the Ravens, where he played five games from 2008 to 2010, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.
Last season two former OVC players were involved in Super Bowl XLVI, however, it was former UT Martin player Jerry Reese, who is the general manager of the New York Giants, who came away with the championship.
