AUSTIN PEAY 3, TENNESSEE STATE 1
MURRAY, KY. - Third-seeded Austin Peay defeated No. 6 Tennessee State in four sets (25-19, 25-16, 26-20, 25-13) to advande to the semifinals of the 2016 OVC Volleyball Tournament. The Governors will face the winner of the SIUE and Morehead State match.
Austin Peay's Ashley Slay led all players with 19 kills while hitting .463 in the victory. Logan Carger added 15 kills. Kristen Stucker notched a double-double with 53 assists and 10 digs. Sammie Ebright had 18 digs while Christina White had 11.
Taylor Patterson led the Tigers with 11 kills to go with 14 digs. Samantha Beltran nearly recorded a double-double with 19 assists and nine digs.Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus led the team with 24 digs.
SIUE 3, MOREHEAD STATE 0
MURRAY, Ky. - Second-seeded SIUE defeated No. 7 Morehead State in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 27-25) to advance to the semifinals of the 2016 OVC Volleyball Tournament.
The Cougars will face No. 3 Austin Peay tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. CT.
SIUE's Taylor Joens led all players with 12 kills while also notching a .545 hitting percentage. Dylynn Otte tallied a team-best 13 digs while Katie Shashack added 10. Samantha Knight and Mallory Mangun each dished out 17 assists.
Merideth Jewell and Sydney Schuler each had 10 kills to lead the Eagles. Danielle McCarson recorded a match-high 16 digs while Bailey Nichol led all players with 30 assists.
EASTERN KENTUCKY 3, BELMONT 1
MURRAY, Ky. - Fifth-seeded Eastern Kentucky defeated No. 4 Belmont in four sets (25-23, 25-16, 28-30, 25-21) to advance to the semifinals of the 2016 OVC Volleyball Championship.
The Colonels will play the winners of the Murray State/Jacksonville State match.
Eastern Kentucky's Nikki Drost led all players with 27 kills while also tallying 11 digs for the double-double. Cassie Knuston also notched a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs while Celina Sanks chipped in 10 kills. Rachel Woody dished out 51 assists to go with 13 digs. Mallory Maxwell led the team with 20 digs.
Belmont was led by Arianna Person with 13 kills and 16 digs. Emma Price also picked up a double-double with 41 assists and 19 digs. Tori Simmons added 10 kills and 11 digs in the match while Ellie Ivancich led the team with 20 digs.
MURRAY STATE 3, JACKSONVILLE STATE 0
MURRAY, Ky. - Top-seeded Murray State defeated Jacksonville State in three sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) to advance to the semifinals of teh 2016 OVC Volleyball Championship.
The Racers will face Eastern Kentucky tomorrow at 7 p.m. CT.
Murray State's Scottie Ingram led all players with 14 kills while also recording six digs. Hann Stultz recorded a double-double with 39 assists and 10 digs. Ellie Lorenz tallied a match-high 21 digs while Alex Kaufmann added 13.
The Gamecocks were led by Allyson Zuhlke with eight kills while Rachel Perucki dished out a team-best 11 assists. Hannah Kirk led the JSU defense with 10 digs.
