The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship continued on Thursday with one game being played and a second game suspended, thus altering the remainder of the tournament's schedule.

In the first day of the game No. 6 seed Belmont eliminated No. 5 seed Tennessee Tech 9-8. No. 2 seed Jacksonville State and No. 3 seed Austin Peay were tied at 3 in the fourth inning when weather delayed the game at 4:47 p.m. That game will now be resumed on Friday at 11 a.m. CT.

The Southeast Missouri/Morehead State game was scheduled for Thursday night but has now been postponed until Friday at 3 p.m. CT.

This season marks the 38th time the event has been held and the seventh year in a row it has been held at The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tennessee. The venue is home of the Jackson Generals, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

The entire tournament is being streamed live and free of charge on the OVC Digital Network. The games are available in HD and available on any computer, tablet or smart phone, as well as Roku streaming devices. The games will air live and are immediately available on-demand.

#6 BELMONT 9, #5 TENNESSEE TECH 8
JACKSON, Tenn.
- Freshman Chas Hadden singled in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning as No. 6 seed Belmont eliminated No. 5 seed Tennessee Tech 9-8 on Thursday at the 2016 OVC Baseball Championship at The Ballpark at Jackson.

Tennessee Tech (31-24) struck early with a three-run home run off the bat of Chris Chambers in the first inning after Belmont had scored once in the top half of the frame.

Belmont (32-26) would eventually take a 8-5 lead after six innings only to see the Golden Eagles score three times in the seventh inning including a solo home run by Trevor Putzig and a RBI single by OVC Player of the Year Kevin Strohschein.

Belmont started the top of the ninth with two singles before Hadden singled home the winning run.  Hadden finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Strohschein finished the day 4-for-5 with three RBI after not recording a hit on Wednesday.

Dom Veltri (2-2) was the winning pitcher, tossing the final 2.2 innings and allowing four hits and an earned run. Kyle Godwin (4-3) suffered the loss, allowing just one earned run over 4.1 innings.
