The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship continued with three games on Friday.
The day began with the resumption of the Austin Peay/Jacksonville State game which was delayed tied at 3 in the fourth inning on Thursday; the Gamecocks came out on top 12-10. In the second game of the day No. 1 Southeast Missouri shutout No. 3 seed Morehead State by a score of 3-0. The final game of the day saw Belmont shutout Morehead State 8-0, eliminating the Eagles for the Championship.

This season marks the 38th time the event has been held and the seventh year in a row it has been held at The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tennessee. The venue is home of the Jackson Generals, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
The entire tournament is being streamed live and free of charge on the OVC Digital Network. The games are available in HD and available on any computer, tablet or smart phone, as well as Roku streaming devices. The games will air live and are immediately available on-demand.

#2 JACKSONVILLE STATE 12, #3 AUSTIN PEAY 10
JACKSON, Tenn. - Jacksonville State scored four runs in the seventh and three times in the eighth inning before withstanding an Austin Peay ninth inning rally to top the Governors 12-10 on Friday at the OVC Baseball Championship.
The game started on Friday but was suspended in the fourth inning with the scored tied at three and could not be resumed until 11 a.m. on Friday. After the resumption of play Austin Peay (29-22) scored two times to grab a 5-3 advantage.
But Jacksonville State (33-22) scored twice in the sixth to time the game before adding more runs in its final two at-bats.
The game featured a combined 20 walks with the Gamecocks being able to overcome 11 free passes.
Nate Sylvester (1-1) was the winning pitcher after tossing 2.1 innings of relief. Garrett Farmer recorded the final out of the game to pick up his second save of the season. Zach Neff (1-7) suffered the loss, allowing six earned runs and issuing five walks in 3.1 innings.
Tyler Gamble drove in four runs, including hitting his 11th home run of the season for JSU.
#1 SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 3, #4 MOREHEAD STATE 0
JACKSON, Tenn. - OVC Pitcher of the Year Joey Lucchesi tossed a complete game shutout to lead No. 1 Southeast Missouri to 3-0 win over No. 4 seed Morehead State on Friday at the 2016 OVC Baseball Championship.
It marked the first shutout in the OVC Baseball Championship since May 27, 2017 when Austin Peay knocked off Eastern Illinois 3-0 in the Title Game. Lucchesi (10-4) scattered seven hits and struck out six in being the first OVC player to pick up a 10th victory on the season. The 10 victories ties the OVC single-season record.
Southeast Missouri (36-18) finally got to play its first game in the tournament after having its original game (set for Thursday at 7 p.m.) delayed by weather.
Catcher Brian Lees and second baseman Trevor Ezell each had two hits and drove in runs for the Redhawks.
Aaron Leasher (5-4) took the loss in allowing three runs in 3.2 innings. In relief Patrick McGuff allowed only one hit and struck out seven over the final 4.1 innings.

JACKSON, Tenn. - After not having a shutout at the OVC Championship since 2012, there were back-to-back ones on Friday as Belmont topped Morehead State 8-0 to eliminate the defending champions from the event.
Belmont (33-26) advances to play No. 3 seed Austin Peay on Saturday in an elimination contest.
The Bruins got on the board with two runs in the first inning without having to swing the bat thanks to two hit by pitches, a walk and three wild pitches.
Belmont then added a run in the third and three runs in the fifth on a Desi Ammons home run to put the game out of reach.
Dylan King (4-1) gave the Bruins eight strong innings, allowing just six hits and walking only one batter. Luke Humphreys (5-5) took the loss after not recording an out.
