OVC Track & Field Athletes of the Week – February 13
Co-MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
James Sugira, Fr., Kigali, Rwanda – Eastern Kentucky
Sugira finished second in the 5,000 meters at the Washington Husky Classic last week. His time of 13:37.8 broke the previous EKU record of 13:46.06 set by Soufiane Bouchikhi in 2012. It’s the fastest time in the OVC and currently ranks sixth in the NCAA.
Tyreke Sapp, R-Fr., Cypress, Texas – UT Martin
Sapp broke a pair of school records last week. He took first in the 200 meters with a league-best time of 21.38. Sapp finished second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.8. That mark is tied for second in the OVC.

Co-FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tamdra Lawrence, Sr., Macon, Ga. – Murray State
Lawrence recorded a pair of top two finishes at the Bulldog Open last week. She finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 24.17. That time is the best in the OVC this season. She also placed second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.56.
Lisa Wickham, Sr., Petit Valley, Trinidad – Tennessee Tech
Wickham finished first in the 60 meters at the Bulldog open last week with a time of 7.48. She also placed second in the 200 meters in 24.41 to rank second in the league this season. Wickham was part of the 4x400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:49.86 which is second in the OVC.

MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
R’Lazon Brumfield, So., Jacksonville, Fla. – Tennessee State
Brumfield earned a pair of first-place finishes at the Hoosier Hills meet least week. He took first in the triple jump with a meet record leap of 52-02. That mark is first in the OVC this season. He also finished first in the long jump with a distance of 21-07.

FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ashlyn Oren, Fr., Edgerton, Wash. – Murray State
Oren recorded a pair of top three finishes at the Bulldog open last week. She took first in the high jump with a mark of 5-7 which ranks second in the OVC and is the seventh best jump in school history. She also placed third in the long jump with a mark of 17-11.
