Offensive
Miyah Watford, F, 5-7, Sr., Indianapolis, Ind. - Murray State
Watford opened the 2019 season with a goal against Xavier. She led the team with seven shots against the Musketeers. Watford then scored two goals in the 2-0 win over Samford. She had four more shots against the Bulldogs. She finished the week with 11 shots, including six on goal.

Defensive
Danelle Lindo, D, 6-0, R-Sr., Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Jacksonville State
Lindo played all 180 minutes last weekend. She was part of a defense that allowed just seven shots over two matches and did not give up a goal. She netted her first career goal in the season-opening win over Alcorn State.

Goalkeeper
Erica Myers, GK, 5-10, Jr., Holland, Ohio - UT Martin
Myers notched a career-high 13 saves and gave up just one goal in the 3-1 win over Arkansas State to open the 2019 season. The 13 saves rank as the seventh most in school history. She followed that up with her ninth career shutout, making seven stops in the scoreless draw with Little Rock.

2019 OVC Women’s Soccer Team News
 
AUSTIN PEAY (0-1-1 overall, 0-0-0 OVC):  Austin Peay played to a 1-1 draw at Chattanooga before falling to Middle Tennessee, 4-0, to open up the 2019 season. Junior Katie Kenward scored the lone Govs goal last week against UTC. Junior Claire Larose led the team with seven shots over the two matches. Austin Peay will be back in action on Friday as it opens its home portion of the schedule with Mercer.
 
BELMONT (0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Belmont fell to at Western Kentucky and Lipscomb to kick off the 2019 campaign. Junior Pagie Hewitt scored the Bruins lone goal of the week against Lipscomb. It was her second career score. Senior MacKenzie Firek played 143 minutes over the two matches, including all 90 against Lipscomb. Senior goalkeeper Lily Herman registered her sixth straight match with four or more saves. The Bruins will travel to Southern Illinois on Friday.
 
EASTERN ILLINOIS (0-1-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Eastern Illinois fell to Ball State to open up the 2019 season. Freshman Nicoletta Anuci had three of EIU’s five shots versus BSU while seniors Angela Corcoran and Sarah DeWolf added the other two shots. The Panthers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Kansas City.
 
EASTERN KENTUCKY (0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Eastern Kentucky fell to Ohio and Chattanooga last week to open up the 2019 season. Junior Kylie Thompson scored the only EKU goal in the 68th minute of the game versus Ohio. She recorded four shots over the two matches, including three on-goal. The Colonels will return to action this week as they gravel to Oakland on Thursday and host Milwaukee on Sunday.
 
JACKSONVILLE STATE (2-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Jacksonville State defeated Alcorn State, 7-0, and FIU, 2-0 , to open up the 2019 season. It marks the second straight year the Gamecocks have gone 2-0 to start the year. Senior Emma Meadows scored a pair of goals in the win over Alcorn State. Over the two matches, she had five shots all of which were on goal.  Senior defender scored her first career goal versus Alcorn State. She was also part of a defense that did not give a goal and limited the two opponents to seven total shots. Freshman goalkeeper Chloe Russo made two saves and did not give up a goal over the two matches. She logged 135 minutes in goal. Jacksonville State will host Lipscomb on Friday before traveling to North Alabama on Sunday.
 
MOREHEAD STATE (0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Morehead State fell to Butler and Louisville last week to kick off the 2019 campaign. The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday when they host Akron.
 
MURRAY STATE (1-1-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Murray State fell in double overtime to Xavier before shutting out Samford to open up the 2019 season. Senior Miyah Watford scored a goal versus Xavier and tallied a pair of goals versus Samford. Over the two matches, she has 11 shots, including six on-goal. Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Villacres logged all 109 minutes versus Xavier making 11 saves. She picked up her first career shutout in the win over Samford, making 13 stops. Murray State will host Indiana on Friday before traveling to Northern Kentucky on Sunday.
 
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (1-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC):  Southeast Missouri defeated Southern Miss to open up the 2019 season. Senior Esmie Gonzales scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute. She also had an assist on Megan Heisser’s goal in the 63rd minute. Senior defender Siena Senatore played all 90 minutes and was part of a defense that held Southern Miss to just nine shots on the day. Sophomore Bailey Redden allowed just two goals and made five saves in the win. Southeast Missouri will play a pair of SEC foes this week as it faces Ole Miss on Thursday and Arkansas on Sunday.
 
SIUE (0-1-1 overall. 0-0-0 OVC): SIIUE played to a draw with Northern Colorado and fell to Colorado State to open up the 2019 season. Sophomores MacKenzie Litzsinger and Megan Keeven each scored a goal versus Colorado State. SIUE will be back in action on Sunday as it travels to Indiana State
 
TENNESSEE TECH (0-0-2 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Tennessee Tech played to a pair of draw last week with South Alabama and Troy. Junior Kendall Powell scored her first goal of the season in the 21st minute versus South Alabama. Against Troy, Powell led all players with five shots in the contest. Senior defender Kaitie Shipley played 210 of 220 possible minutes over the two matches. She as part of defense did not give up a goal and allowed six shots in the scoreless draw against Troy. Junior goalkeeper Isabelle Austin made her first two career starts last week. She gave up just two goals and made nine saves. She notched her first shutout of the year versus Troy. Tennessee Tech will travel to the Arizona State Tournament where it will face Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Sunday. 
 
UT MARTIN (1-0-1 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): UT Martin defeated Arkansas State and played to a scoreless draw with Little Rock. Sophomore Jill Hildreth made her Skyhawk debut versus Arkansas State, scoring a pair of goals including the game winner. Junior defender Kamryn Chappell was the only Skyhawk position player to play all 200 minutes last weekend. She was part of a defense that gave up just one goal. Junior goalkeeper Erica Myers made a career-high 13 saves against Arkansas State. The 13 saves mark the seventh most in UT Martin history. Myers picked her ninth career shutout against Little Rock, making seven stops. The Skyhawks will travel to Evansville on Thursday and Wester Carolina on Sunday.
