Why is it important to be an advocate for social change/justice?
"It’s important to be an advocate because everyone deserves to have the same rights and opportunities no matter their race, religion or who they love. We are all human beings and deserve to be treated as such. Without advocacy for change, things will stay the same."
What are the responsibilities of the individual in regard to issues of social justice?
"I think two huge responsibilities that fall on each individual is to listen and learn. Talk to people that look different than you, learn from their experiences. Learn what you can do for them or what they can do for you in this journey for social justice."
What should we be doing as a society to combat social inequality?
"We need to have the uncomfortable conversations. Change doesn’t happen when you are in your comfort zone."
What other emotions would you like to express about the current state of our society?
"We just need to be kind to each other. As the old saying goes and what our parents told us, treat others like you want to be treated. Kindness goes a long way."
