As part of the
#OVCforChange initiative, OVC student-athletes, coaches and administrators will engage in dialogue to help shape a course of action and invoke change on a variety of social issues impacting their lives.
This week's feature is with a pair of SIUE softball teammates in
Zoe Schafer and
Alana Cobb-Adams.
Schafer hails from Noblesville, Indiana and last year led SIUE with 19 RBI and four home runs in the shortened season.
Cobb-Adams is from Kapolei, Hawaii and enters her fourth year with the team in 2021. Last season she had a .407 batting average and a .729 slugging percentage from the leadoff position.
What emotions would you like to express about the current state of our society?
Zoe Schafer
“The social injustices that are plaguing the world right now are sickening and heartbreaking. It is time that we all start using our voices to stand with the black community to enact change. No voice or act is too small in the fight for what is right!”
Alana Cobb-Adams
“We can no longer ignore the acts of racial disparity. We must stand up for all people of color and commit ourselves to make a change, no matter how big or small.”
