Now in its 73rd year, the Ohio Valley Conference continues to build on the success that has made it the nation's eighth-oldest NCAA Division I conference. Over those 73 years the League has inspired student-athletes to realize their academic aspirations, maximize their athletics potential, and cultivate their leadership skills to prepare them for life beyond their collegiate experience.
As part of a new partnership with
GameTime Hydration, each week through the rest of the academic year, we will honor an OVC student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom, in addition to earning accolades on the playing surface.
This week's honoree is UT Martin women's basketball senior
Chelsey Perry. Perry has been a three-time selection to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll (for having a 3.25 GPA or better) and has twice been named to the UT Martin Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She is majoring in Exercise Science and Wellness.
On the court Perry is the reigning OVC Player of the Year and has been named OVC Player of the Week 13 times during her career (three off the all-time record). She is currently leading all Division I players in scoring.
