Now in its 73rd year, the Ohio Valley Conference continues to build on the success that has made it the nation's eighth-oldest NCAA Division I conference. Over those 73 years the League has inspired student-athletes to realize their academic aspirations, maximize their athletics potential, and cultivate their leadership skills to prepare them for life beyond their collegiate experience.
As part of a new partnership with
GameTime Hydration, each week through the rest of the academic year, we will honor an OVC student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom, in addition to earning accolades on the playing surface.
This week's honoree is Eastern Illinois distance runner
Jaime Marcos. This past Fall, Jaime was one of six OVC student-athletes to win the prestigious OVC Scholar-Athlete Award. He is majoring in kinesiology, sport and recreation with a minor in health promotion and has earned multiple OVC Academic Medal of Honor awards and is a six-time EIU Dean’s List selection.
On the course he earned first-team All-OVC honors in 2019 by placing seventh at the OVC Championship and would go on to place 68th at the NCAA Midwest Championships. He was part of the 2020 OVC Indoor Track Championship squad (participating in the 3K and 5K events) and the 2019 OVC Outdoor Track Championship team (placing fifth in the 10K).
