Laradean "Deanie" Brown was the first women’s volleyball coach in Morehead State history. She began her career in 1972 as she developed and built the Eagle volleyball program and spent nine seasons at the helm. She compiled a 193-60-3 (.763) record at Morehead State.
 
During her tenure she led the Eagles to Kentucky Women’s Intercollegiate Conference Championships in 1972, 1974 and 1976. Her 1973, 1977 and 1979 teams finished as conference runners-up, and her squads in 1977 and 1979 placed third in the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women’s Regional.
 
She remains the all-time winningest coach in school history. She recruited and coached three volleyball players who went on to be enshrined in the school’s athletics Hall of Fame. Brown was inducted into the Morehead State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998.
