2024 OVC Rifle Championship Set to Begin on Saturday

The 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day event will be held at Button Rifle Range on the campus of Morehead State. The championship will feature host MSU, Murray State and UT Martin.
 
Murray State won its 17th OVC Rifle Championship last season. The Racers took both the smallbore (2329) and air rifle (2372) crowns in 2023. John Blanton, Matias Kiuru and Scott Patterson grabbed the top three spots last year and return in hopes of giving MSU its fourth consecutive title.
 
Morehead State is in search of its second Conference title after finishing second last year with an aggregate score of 4660. The Eagles won their first championship in 2020. Bryce Ward returns for his final season and looks to bookend his career with a team title.
 
UT Martin, which is looking for its first ever conference title, finished third last year with an overall score of 4609. The Skyhawks finished with a 2274 smallbore score and a 2335 air rifle mark in 2023. Alayna Walther and Joey Kovach are the top returners from last year’s championship, finishing eighth and tenth, respectively.
 
The smallbore competition will start at 9:00 a.m ET on Saturday and continue with the air rifle at 9:00 a.m. ET on Sunday.
