BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The Ohio Valley Conference announced its 2024 OVC volleyball award winners and All-Conference teams on the eve of the start of the 2024 OVC Championship which begins on Sunday in Cape Girardeau.
In a vote of league head coaches and communications directors, Lindenwood's
Will Condon was named OVC Coach of the Year and was joined two of his players in graduate student
Allie Otten, who was named OVC Setter of the Year, and right side
Autumn Bax, who was named OVC Freshman of the Year. Tennessee Tech senior
Madolyn Isringhausen was named OVC Player of the Year while Southeast Missouri sophomore libero
Nina Schuberth was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year.
The league also announced the All-OVC first and second teams. Lindenwood led the way with four first-team selections and five total players across the two teams. Southeast Missouri and Tennessee Tech each had two first-team (and three overall) selections, while Little Rock, Morehead State, SIUE and Western Illinois each had two total picks.
Condon guided Lindenwood to a second-place finish, one game out of first, in the Lions third year in the OVC. It marks the best league finish for the program since joining the OVC. Picked fifth in the preseason poll, Lindenwood finished League play 14-4 and are 20-10 overall, its most wins in the regular season since 2017. Lindenwood has made the OVC Tournament semifinals each of the past two years and will look to at least repeat that feat this season as the No. 2 seed.
Otten led the OVC in assists during League matches (11.36/set) while ranking second in service aces (0.41/set). The graduate also contributed 3.55 digs/set and had 21 blocks during OVC play. Otten had a season-high 56 assists twice this season, doing so on the road against each SIUE and Western Illinois.
Bax ranked fifth in League play in kills per set (3.36). Over 66 sets the freshman hit .268 while adding 47 digs and 26 blocks to total 237.0 points. The right side hitter had a season-best 20 kills at SIUE, and reached double-digit kills in each of her final six matches of the regular season. Bax had a season-high three total blocks in a win at Little Rock during the final week of the season.
Isringhausen had a dominant season in 2024, averaging 5.12 kills, 2.86 digs and 0.48 aces/set while hitting .288 and tallying 388 points in 66 sets during League play. Entering the postseason, in all matches during the season, the senior ranks third nationally in points (604.5), sixth in kills (4.93/set) and 14th in aces (0.55/set). She had a season-best 28 kills against SIUE and hit the 20-plus plateau for kills eight total times. During the final week of the season she set a new TTU rally-scoring era record with eight aces, including six alone in the first set versus UT Martin. Isringhausen was named AVCA National Player of the Week on November 12, becoming the first Golden Eagle (and sixth OVC player) to earn that honor after averaging 6.71 kills/set while hitting .435 in a pair of wins over her hometown team. Overall, she was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week eight times in 2024, including the final three of the regular season. She is the fourth overall Tennessee Tech player to earn this award and first since Leah Meffert in 2008.
Schuberth's Defensive Player of the Year honor marks the third-straight that a Southeast Missouri player has earned that award, after Tara Beilsmith claim the honor each of the past two seasons. In OVC action this season she has averaged 6.31 digs/set, which led the League. In all matches this season she tallied 499 digs (40th nationally) and 4.23 digs/set (88th nationally). She had a season-best 39 digs against Morehead State. Schuberth was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week five times during the season.
