BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship started strong with the first medal awarded after a record-breaking performance. Parker Feuerborn opened the day by setting a new OVC Championship mark in the weight throw with a distance of 23.38m (76’8.50”). The graduate student broke the previous mark of 21.31m, which he set at last year’s Championship. The toss ranks as the third best mark in the nation.
The Eastern Illinois men’s team closed out day one with 57 points and the lead, just ahead of the Redhawks with 52 points. Little Rock is third with 38, followed by UT Martin (17), Western Illinois (15), Southern Indiana (10), Tennessee State (9), SIUE (8) and Morehead State (3).
On the women’s side, Southeast Missouri earned 58 points while Tennessee Tech is second with 30 points. Eastern Illinois and Little Rock are tied for third with 29 points. Western Illinois rounds out the top five with 20 points followed by SIUE (11), UT Martin (9), Southern Indiana (7), Morehead State (3) and Tennessee State (2).
