The final day of the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship is now underway. The tournament is being held April 21-24 at RTJ at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
The tournament, being played on the Fighting Joe Course, features 54 holes of stroke play competition followed by the top four teams advancing to Match Play. It marks the ninth time the event has been held at the venue.
The Match Play features No. 1 Little Rock vs. No. 4 SIUE (8 a.m. CT at Hole 1) and No. 2 Tennessee Tech vs. No. 3 UT Martin (8:04am CT at Hole 11). The winners will play the final match at approximately 1 p.m. CT.
The course is a par 72 with yardage running between 7,147 and 7,189 during the week.
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals is home to two 18-hole championship courses and lies between the Wheeler and Wilson dams on the Tennessee River. Wheeler Dam is named in honor of General Joseph "Fighting Joe" Wheeler - the only Confederate General to attain the same rank later in the United States Army.
The Fighting Joe course at The Shoals was the first Trail course to break 8,000 yards. Travel + Leisure Golf named Fighting Joe one of the top new courses in 2004.
The annual awards banquet was held on Sunday night following the first round. The ceremony honored the 10-member All-OVC team, the All-Newcomer Team and the OVC Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year. The All-Tournament and Tournament MVP awards will be presented on Tuesday at the conclusion of stroke play.
