SEMO’S Hlacikova and Gunn, USI’s Negrail Headline 2024 OVC Women’s Tennis Postseason Awards

ST. LOUIS –
Southeast Missouri’s Daniela Hlacikova was tabbed the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s head Coaches. Southern Indiana’s Anais Negrail was named the Freshman of the Year while Coach of the Year honors went to the Redhawks Mary Beth Gunn. The awards were handed out at the Championship banquet held prior to competition starting on Friday.
 
Hlacikova went 6-0 in OVC play at the No. 1 singles spot while going 12-5 overall. She teamed with Juliette Talieu to go 6-0 in league play and 13-1 at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo was named Doubles Team All-Conference. Hlacikova was also named to the 2024 All-OVC First Team. This marks the second consecutive year she has claimed the award.
 
Negrail posted a 5-1 OVC record, 4-1 at No. 4 singles and 1-0 at No. 3. She teamed with her partner to finish 3-3 in league play, 1-1 at No. 3 doubles and 2-2 at No. 1. Negrail was named to the 2024 All-OVC second team.
 
Gunn led her team to a 6-0 record and SEMO’s second consecutive regular season championship. This is her second honor, winning the award being named in 2021.
 
Joining Hlacikova on the first team are fellow Redhawks Trinity Calinescu and Juliette Talieu. The trio were joined by SIUE’s Margaux Guibal Britt, Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano.
 
Joining Negrail on the second team are: SIUE’s Amelia Gorman and Fabiola Perez; Southeast Missouri’s Vivan Lai; Eastern Illinois’ Aleyla Wooten; USI’s Antonio Ferrarini; Tennessee State’s Warona Mdlulwa.
 
Joining Hlacikova and Talieu on the Doubles Team All-Conference are SIUE’s Margaux Guibal Britt and Amelia Gorman and Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano.
