NCAA Men's Golf Championship Release

The selections for the 2024 NCAA Men's Golf Regionals have been announced. The Regionals take place May 13-15 with teams and individuals advancing to the National Championship in Carlsbad, California at the end of the month.  Overall 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) will advance.

Tennessee Tech, which claimed its first OVC crown since 1990, is making its first-ever appearance in the Championship and will compete in the West Lafayette Regional hosted by Purdue. Additionally, OVC Medalist Archie Smith of Little Rock will compete in the Baton Rouge Regionals.

The Golden Eagles claimed their fifth OVC Tournament title in program history back on Apr. 24, finishing 2-0 in the match-play portion of the event, including a clutch, 3-2 victory over SIUE for the crown. It marked Tech's first OVC championship since 1990, before the NCAA award automatic bids to the NCAA Championships to all conferences. The purple and gold also collected titles in 1951, 1954, and 1955.

Smith won the OVC medalist title after stroke play rounds of 71-67-71 to finish at 209 (-7) and top the field by five shots. It marked the second-straight year a Little Rock golfer had won the honor. As of Wednesday he ranks No. 392 nationally in the Clippd National Rankings and has a 71.8 adjusted scoring average on the season (72.3 overall).
