BRYAN, Texas - Little Rock carded a 305 (+17) in the opening round at the NCAA Regionals, three strokes behind ninth-place Maryland and eight behind both Texas State and Vanderbilt. SMU and LSU are tied for the lead at 286 (-2). Host school Texas A&M is third (-1), Clemson follows at +3 while Iowa State (+5) rounds out the top five. Ohio State (+6) is sixth.
Freshman Eleonore Aernouts had the best opening round for Little Rock, firing a 73 (+1) to close the day at 15th overall. Aernouts made two birdies (10 and 17) and 13 pars in the round. Agatha Alesson is 22nd after a round of 74 (+2) that included a birdie on 18 and 14 pars. Fehild Graesel is 46th after a 77 (+5) with birdies on 8 and 15 and 1 pars. Katja Mueller finished with a round of 81 (+9) and Anna Dawson turned in a round of 84 (+12).
Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone of LSU and Mackenzie Lee of SMU are tied for the individual lead at 4-under, Ohio State's Kary Hollenbaugh is fourth at 3-under, and Adela Cernousek of Texas A&M is fifth at 2-under.
Little Rock will tee off the second round Tuesday morning on the No. 10 hole, starting with Dawson at 8:50 am and followed by Mueller (9:00), Graesel (9:10), Alesson (9:20) and Aernouts (9:30).
