The 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship will take place on Saturday at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on the campus of Murray State University.
Host Murray State will be joined by Morehead State and UT Martin as the three teams compete for championship. All three enter the championship natoionally ranked. The Racers are No. 7 in the country, ahead of the Eagles at No. 17 and the Skyhawks at No. 18.
Last season, Murray State won its 18th OVC Rifle Championship. The Racers took both the smallbore (2333) and air rifle (2375) crowns in 2024. Scott Patterson, John Blanton and Allison Henry grabbed three of the top four spots last year. The trio along with freshman Carlotta Salafia enters with hopes of giving MSU its fifth consecutive title.
Morehead State is in search of its second Conference title after finishing second last year with an aggregate score of 4655. The Eagles won their first championship in 2020. Andrianna Beard, Hayden Bell and Maria Koenig claimed top 10 finishes last year and look to claim the title with help from freshmen George Kuhne and Chloe Shannon.
UT Martin, which is looking for its first ever conference title, finished third last year with an overall score of 4624. The Skyhawks finished with a 2306 smallbore score and a 2318 air rifle mark in 2024. UTM also returns three top 10 finishers from last year’s championship with Alayna Walther, Joey Kovach and Jeffrey Bourassa. Freshman Sadie Pelfrey led the squad in eight of its 10 competitions this season.
The smallbore competition will start at 9:15 a.m. CT on Saturday, followed by the air rifle competition at 1:15 p.m. CT.
