OVC Basketball Media Day Powered by CenterPoint Energy: Morehead State

• Preseason Releases: Men, Women | Media Day Recap

The Morehead State men's team was picked fifth while the women's team was predicted 10th in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll voted on by league head coaches and communications directors.

The predictions were released as part of the OVC Basketball Media Day powered by Centerpoint Energy, which was held on October 14.

The men's team begins its second year under head coach Jonathan Mattox. Among the players who will look to make an impact are Davion Cunningham and Chase Dawson, who were named to the OVC Preseason Players to Watch List. Cunningham last played at USC Aiken where he averaged 15.9 points and 5.9 rebounds/game. Dawson joins the Eagles from Mount Olive where he tallied 642 points in 30 games last season (21.4 points/game).

Ashton Feldhaus begins her first season as the MSU women's basketball head coach. Feldhaus, who played at UT Martin and last coached at Missouri Western, has a roster full of newcomers.  Included in that group are two players who came with her from her last stop in Laura Toffali and Marie Sepp. They were members of a team that earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament. Toffali averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season, playing in all 30 games and making 23 starts while Sepp started all 30 games and averaged 12 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists/game.

The MSU teams will look to be one of eight teams in each gender to qualify for the 2026 OVC Basketball Championships, which will be played March 4-7 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. For more information on the championship, click here.
