OVC Basketball Media Day Powered by CenterPoint Energy: UT Martin

The UT Martin men's team was picked eighth while the women's team was predicted sixth in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll voted on by league head coaches and communications directors.

The predictions were released as part of the OVC Basketball Media Day powered by Centerpoint Energy, which was held on October 14.

For the men's squad, second year head coach Jeremy Shulman has juniors Afan Trnka and Lamine Niang back this season.bTrnka is the Skyhawks' leading returning scorer at 8.3 points per outing. He was the only UT Martin player to see action in all 33 games a year ago, logging 23 starts and dishing out a team-best 97 assists (2.9 per contest). Niang saw playing time in 31 contests and made 13 starts in the frontcourt in 2024-25, topping UT Martin in field goal percentage (.584, 45-of-77) and blocked shots (26).

The Skyhawks women's team returns junior Kenley McCarn who was an All-OVC selection a year ago when she averaged 13.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals/game. She made a team-best 93.8 percent from the free throw line. The squad also has back junior Norah Clark who made nine starts last year and averaged 4.7 points/game.

The UTM teams will look to be one of eight teams in each gender to qualify for the 2026 OVC Basketball Championships, which will be played March 4-7 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. For more information on the championship, click here.
