• Preseason Releases: Men, Women | Media Day Recap
The Lindenwood women's team was picked the preseason favorite while the men's team was tabbed fifth in the 2025-26 OVC Preseason Poll voted on by league head coaches and communications directors.
The predictions were released as part of the OVC Basketball Media Day powered by
Centerpoint Energy, which was held on October 14.
The women's team is coming off a 23-win season in 2024-25, their most in the NCAA era, which culminated in the programs first tournament appearance at the Division I level. The Lions won a pair of games in the WNIT, advancing to the Super 16. Lindenwood posted 14 wins at home last year, its most in program history and had an 11-game winning streak during the year. Among the team's returning player is Ellie Brueggemann, an All-OVC selection last season. Last year she started all 34 games, averaging a team-best 12.0 points/game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 89.9 percent from the charity stripe.
The Lindenwood men's team is coming off a season where they won 10 Conference games and earned a First Round OVC Tournament victory. The team returns 2024-25 OVC Freshman of the Year Jadis Jones who averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 assists/game last season. He started all 33 games for the Lions and was named OVC Freshman of the Week a record-breaking 12 times.
The Lions teams will look to be one of eight teams in each gender to qualify for the 2026 OVC Basketball Championships, which will be played March 4-7 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. For more information on the championship,
