BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Earlier this week, the Ohio Valley Conference Board of Presidents and Chancellors concluded its annual Fall Meeting in Nashville, taking important steps to position the league for long-term success and stability. The meeting capped a recent series of productive sessions focused on shaping the Conference’s future, as the nine continuing member institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to the OVC and one another.
Throughout these meetings, the Board engaged in broad, forward-looking discussions on strategic priorities—including the search for the OVC’s next Commissioner, membership growth, and continued enhancement across all areas of the league. Specific outcomes of the meetings include a bylaw change to strengthen exit terms for departing members, development of strategies to enhance competitiveness and unify branding for the eight-member Football Association, and origination of a strategic planning initiative designed to complement the ongoing leadership transition.
“Through a recent series of meetings, the OVC Board of Presidents has demonstrated a strong commitment to each other,” said Dr. John R. Porter, President of Lindenwood University and Chair of the OVC Board of Presidents and Chancellors. “We continue to have forward-looking conversations on ways to strengthen the Conference, and we are looking forward to the next chapter in the long and storied history of the OVC.”
For more than 78 years, the OVC has been home to excellence in intercollegiate athletics, rooted in competitive excellence, sportsmanship, opportunity, and community. The Board’s actions this week reaffirm that spirit while setting a clear, confident course for the years ahead.
