MOREHEAD STATE 121, KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN 51
MOREHEAD, Ky. - Double-doubles from Josiah LeGree and Jon Carroll, and seven Eagles scoring in double figures, highlighted Men's Basketball's 121-51 win over Kentucky Christian at Johnson Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (2-3) scored the most points in a game since also registering 121 versus Kentucky Christian on Nov. 29, 2014. LeGree had 13 points and a career-best 10 assists, while Carroll notched his second double-double as an Eagle with 14 points and 10 boards.
George Marshall led the Eagles with 20 points, his second 20+ effort of 2025-26, while Chase Dawson came off the bench for a season-high 19 points and a career-best seven assists. Clayton Parker scored a season-high 16, while Tamaury Releford added a season standard 15. Anouar Mellouk was the seventh Eagles over 10+ as he tossed in 12 points and nearly missed a double-double with eight rebounds.
MSU out-rebounded the Knights 45-17 and had 32 assists in the contest. The Eagles also had 19 steals and turned that into a 45-3 advantage in points off turnovers. MSU also scored 60 percent of its points in the paint with 72.
MSU opened up a 17-0 first-half lead before KCU finally scored with 14:45 left in the first half. The home team led 60-26 at halftime. The Eagles shot 70 percent (23-of-33) in the opening half, which was the highest efficiency in a half since that 2014 KCU game when that team made 75 percent in the second half.
The Eagles' largest lead came with 40 seconds left when they pulled ahead by 72 points. Morehead State finished with a 66 percent (48-of-73) field goal accuracy and defended the visitors into only 35 percent.
KCU, an NAIA program from 35 miles away in Grayson, Ky., had only player reach double figures in points as Parker Watts scored 12. The Knights counted the game as an exhibition contest.
WESTERN KENTUCKY 95, TENNESSEE STATE 82
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Tennessee State men's basketball team kept Western Kentucky to just 13.3 percent from beyond the arc in a 2-for-15 shooting performance, but fell 95-82 to the Hilltoppers on the road Sunday.
The Tigers (2-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Aaron Nkrumah, who had 22 points and nine rebounds. Travis Harper II tacked on 18 points and Dante Harris helped out with 15 points and seven assists.
The Tennessee State offense made hay from three-point land, knocking down nine threes on 24 attempts. Harper II hit three treys for the Tigers in the contest.
After falling behind 19-14, Tennessee State went on a 5-0 run with 11:05 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Nkrumah, to tie the game at 19. Western Kentucky then pulled ahead, sending the Tigers into halftime down 51-43.
Western Kentucky kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 87-65 advantage before Tennessee State went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Jc Brooks' three, to shrink the deficit to 87-72 with 4:35 to go in the contest. The Tigers kept their comeback going, but Western Kentucky managed to hold on for the 95-82 win.
SOUTHERN INDIANA 91, LORAS 74
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - University of Southern Indiana Men's Basketball used big runs early to outdistance Loras University, 91-74, Sunday afternoon at Liberty Arena. The Screaming Eagles go to 1-3 in the non-conference schedule, while Loras is 2-1.
USI exploded after the opening tip, flying out to an 11-0 lead before three minutes were gone in the game. The Eagles connected on their first four shots, including three-pointers by senior guard Ismail Habib, senior guard/forward Steven Clay, and junior guard Kaden Brown. Senior forward Ola Ajiboye added a dunk to complete the scoring during the run.
The offensive explosion would continue to a 27-point advantage when Clay connected on his third three-pointer of the half to give the Eagles a 30-13 margin. The advantage would expand to as many as 21 points (37-16) before USI settled for a 44-29 halftime lead.
Habib and Clay dominated during the opening half with both reaching double-digits before the intermission. Habib had 16 points on a blistering five-of-seven from the field, four-of-six from beyond the arc, and two-of-three from the stripe. Clay followed with 10 points on a perfect three-of-three from the field, all three-pointers, and one-of-two from the line.
USI maintained the first-half margin during the final 20 minutes, leading once by 20 points (91-71) and by 19 points five times in cruising to the 91-74 final. Senior guard Trey Thomas led the way with a team-best 18 points during the second half.
Overall in the scoring column, Habib led USI with 21 points by adding five more in the second half. He finished the game six-of-nine from the field, five-of-eight from long range, and four-of-five from the line.
Thomas followed with 20 points, while Clay and junior forward Tolu Samuels rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points and 11 points, respectively.
ALABAMA A&M 74, LINDENWOOD 65
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Lindenwood Men's Basketball wrapped up the Bulldog Bash at Alabama A&M on Sunday afternoon, dropping their second game to the host Bulldogs by a final score of 74-65. Dontrez Williams started his first game for the Black & Gold and scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
In the first half, the Lions went up 14-9 with 10 minutes left as Williams and Anias Futrell combined for 10 of the first 14 points for Lindenwood. Futrell got to the free throw line early in the game, knocking down all four of his attempts in the first 20 minutes. After Mekhi Cooper put LU in front 17-14 on an and-one basket, the Bulldogs responded with a 10-2 run to take a 24-19 lead with just over five minutes to go. The Lions would roar back however, drawing contact in the lane to get to the charity stripe. As a team, they shot 7-9 from the line in the first half, including Clayton Jackson sinking two free throws with 4:20 left to cut Alabama A&M's lead to 26-23. Lindenwood got a defensive stop following the Jackson free throws and on the next trip down the floor, Jadis Jones found Futrell wide open in the left corner to tie the game at 26 at the under four media timeout. The two teams went back-and-forth for the remainder of the half, but the Bulldogs would take a 34-32 lead at the break. Anias Futrell led the Lions in the first half with nine points and made the only three pointer in the half, as the team went 1-10 from deep in the opening half of play,.
The second half saw both teams make several runs throughout the last 20 minutes of the game. After Alabama A&M took a 42-38 lead with 15 minutes left, the Lions responded with a 4-0 run to tie the game at 42 as Williams and Futrell each scored a basket during the small run to pick up right where the left off in the first half. Williams would continue to be an offensive threat, knocking down a three pointer to tie the game at 45, and getting to the line with 9:30 left, making it a two point game as Alabama A&M was clinging to a 51-49 lead. That would be the closest the Lions would get to tying the game in the second half, as the Bulldogs went on two separate 6-2 runs to distance themselves from the Lions by a final score of 74-65.
