ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team (1-0) opened the season with a 107-23 win over Harris Stowe on Education Day. The 84 point win is the largest margin of victory in program history.

The Lions got out to a fast start, going up 13-0 with 6:37 to go in the first quarter. Lindenwood shot 56 percent from the field and made five threes during the first 10 minutes to lead 25-8 after one. Alyssa Nielsen paced Black and Gold with six points.

Lindenwood scored the first 31 points of the second quarter, holding the Hornets to just 2-11 shooting across the second 10 minutes. The Lions forced 10 Hornet turnovers and led 56-12 at the break. The Black and Gold had three players with eight or more points in the opening half, led by Nielsen with 12.

In the third quarter, Lindenwood outscored Harris-Stowe 29-5. Ellie Brueggemann knocked down an early three to put the Lions up 67-12. Aleshia Jones knocked down another three a few possessions later to grow the lead to 62 at 74-12. Lindenwood would lead 87-17 after three quarters.

A few minutes into the fourth, Jones blocked a three on the defensive end and hit a transition three to put Lindenwood up 92-19, giving her a game-high 21 points. The Lions eclipsed 100 points thanks to another three from Brueggeman a few possessions later and picked up a 107-23 win in the season opener.

The Lions held Harris-Stowe to just 10 field goals made, forced 23 turnovers and outrebounded the Hornets 59-29 and had 31 assists on 38 made shots.
