Through five events the Redhawks mens' squad jumped out to an early lead behind a 24-point performance by the weight throwers. Paden Lewis and Clay Alewelt went one-two for 18 points while Quinton Maxwell and Josiah Kilgoer finished fifth and seventh, respectively, adding six points.
The Redhawks tallied 57.5 points on Tuesday, ahead of Eastern Illinois with 43 points and Little Rock with 42. Southern Indiana and Western Indiana are tied for fourth with 16 points, and are followed by SIUE (8.5), UT Martin (8), and Tennessee State (4).
On the women’s side, the Redhawks earned 52 points as they topped the mens results by Bailie Hux, Makenzie Williams and Baylee Beard sweeing the podium positions while freshman Andreese Ortiz finished fifth. Little Rock used strong performances in the long jump and pole vault to end the day in second with 41 points. Southern Indiana is third with 32 points, highlighted by a one-two finish by freshman Hadessah Austin and junior Ellie Hall in the 5000m. The Screaming Eagles closed out the night with a win in the distance medley relay.
Eastern Illinois is fourth with 23 points and are followed by Western Illinois (15), Tennessee Tech (14), SIUE (10), and UT Martin (8).
