MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - On Saturday the Ohio Valley Conference announced the winners of the All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer awards for the 2024-25 women's golf season.
In addition Morehead State's
Tavia Burgess was named the OVC Freshman of the Year.
The awards were announced prior to the Practice Round at the 2024 OVC Championship which is being held at RTJ at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. First round action begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. CT.
The OVC Player and Coach of the Year awards will be announced following Tuesday's final round.
Burgess was the top ranked OVC freshman (and second overall league player) in the Clippd National Rankings (509) entering the Championship. She was named OVC Player of the Week three times during the season, including back-to-back weeks in the spring. She played in 25 total rounds, averaging 73.2 strokes, which ranked second in the OVC. She competed in 10 total events and had two top fives, including a runner-up finish. Only once during the season did she place outside the Top 20. Overall she is the sixth individual from her school to win the honor (and first since 2023).
This year the All-OVC Team expanded from one team of 10 individuals to two teams of seven individuals apiece (14 total honorees). The All-OVC teams included four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and four freshmen. The were four repeat selections from last season in Little Rock's
Eleonore Aernouts and
Anna Dawson, Tennessee Tech's
Chloe Griffith and Morehead State's
Amelia Greenlee.
That quartet was joined on the All-OVC first-team by Morehead State's
Tavia Burgess and
Tuva Isebakke (who was an All-OVC selection in 2022-23) and Western Illinois'
Olivia Kerr.
The All-OVC second-team included Morehead State's
Hanna Montgomery and
Isabella Wiley, Little Rock's
Iara Martin, Kattja Mueller and
Elvira Flodstrom and Tennessee Tech's
Kaydi Rhoes and
Kailey Lane.
Burgess, Lane, Martin and Flodstrom were four of the five selections on the All-Newcomer Team. They were joined by Southern Indiana freshman
Brianna Kirsch.
