CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - On Saturday the Ohio Valley Conference announced the winners of the All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer awards for the 2024-25 men's golf season.
The awards were announced prior to the Practice Round at the 2025 OVC Championship which is being held at Dalhousie Golf Club. First round action begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. CT.
The OVC Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year awards will be announced following Tuesday's final round of stroke play.
This year the All-OVC Team expanded from one team of 10 individuals to two teams of seven individuals apiece (14 total honorees).
The All-OVC teams included eight seniors, three juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen. There were five repeat selections from last season in Little Rock's
Matteo Cristoni,
Archie Smith and
Rhett South, SIUE's
Brady Kaufmann and Southern Indiana's
Jason Bannister.
The first team also included Little Rock's
Freddie Turnell, SIUE's
Alex Eickhoff and UT Martin's
Jackson Twerdahl.
In addition to South, the All-OVC second-team included Bryant's
Dylan Gallagher, Tennessee Tech's
Haden Maxwell, Morehead State's
Nolan Piazza, Southern Indiana's
Sam Vertanen, Little Rock's
Ed Featherstone and SIUE's
Will Simpson.
Turnell, Featherstone and Simpson were three of the five selections to the OVC All-Newcomer Team. They were joined by Morehead State's
Remy Stalcup and Lindenwood's
Santiago Juesas.
