CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – After 54 holes of stroke play, the semifinals for the 2025 OVC Men’s Golf Championship Match Play event are set for Wednesday.
Little Rock, Lindenwood, UT Martin and Morehead State are the top four seeds and will play for the OVC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on Wednesday. The marks the fourth year of Match Play in the OVC.
No. 1 Little Rock and No. 4 Morehead State will tee off beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT on Hole 1 while No. 2 Lindenwood and No. 3 UT Martin will tee off on Hole 10 beginning at 8:02 a.m. CT. The winners will play in the Championship Match at approximately 1 p.m.
Little Rock is the No. 1 seed for the third-consecutive season; the Trojans are looking for its second OVC Championship and first since 2023. UT Martin won the inaugural OVC Match Play event (2022) and has made the final four in three of the four years the event has been held. Lindenwood (2023) and Morehead State (2022) are each making its second Match Play appearances.
Little Rock finished stroke play at -17, which was seven shots ahead of Lindenwood. UT Martin was at -6 while Morehead State finished at +6. The teams were rounded out by SIUE (+8), Southern Indiana (+11), Western Illinois (+24), Bryant (+31), Tennessee Tech (+33), Tennessee State (+39) and Eastern Illinois (+56).
Little Rock’s Rhett South and UT Martin’s Jonathan Xoinis shared Medalist honors after carding three round totals of 210 (-6). They were one shot ahead of Southern Indiana’s Jason Bannister and two shots ahead of Little Rock’s Matteo Cristoni, Lindenwood’s Brennan Strubberg and Southern Indiana’s Sam Vertanen. Those six players comprised the All-Tournament Team.
Following the final round, the league head coaches voted on the Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year awards. Little Rock swept the awards with senior Matteo Cristoni being named Player of the Year, Freddie Turnell taking home Freshman of the Year honors and Trojans head coach Austin Eoff being tabbed Coach of the Year.
The OVC Championship is being played at Dalhousie Golf Club for the third time and first since 2023. The course played par 72 with yardage of 7,074 on Tuesday.
