2025 ABCA All-Region Teams

A pair of OVC baseball players have been named to the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams.  The selections were Tennessee Tech sophomore catcher Mack Whitcomb and Southern Indiana junior DH Cole Kitchens.

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 13 prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.  First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.

Whitcomb, the OVC Player of the Year, batted .360 with a .485 on-base percentage, a .649 slugging percentage, and a 1.134 OPS. Whitcomb racked up 76 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs, 55 RBI, 54 runs, 36 walks, 17 hit-by-pitches, and a 1-1 showing on stolen bases. He led the team in batting average, runs, hits, triples, home runs, RBI, slugging, hit-by-pitches, on-base percentage, and OPS. He led the OVC in on-base percentage, OPS, and hit-by-pitches, ranked second in batting average, hits, and RBI, and was third in slugging percentage, runs scored, and home runs. His 15 home runs set a new program record for long balls by a catcher in a single season, topping the mark of 13 set by Gilliland last season. Whitcomb also became the 14th Golden Eagle to smash a school-record three round-trippers in a single game, crushing three against Lindenwood on May 11.

Kitchens led the Eagles and the OVC in hitting (.371), hits (82), and RBI (60) during 2025. The 60 RBI were the most by a USI player since 2018. The first-team All-OVC performer also led the team in doubles (18) and home runs (12), while tying for third in runs scored (39). Kitchens also tied a USI single-game record with three home runs versus SIUE. He produced a season-high four hits in three games, two doubles four times, and four RBIs versus Western Kentucky University. The junior infielder/first baseman had USI's second-longest hitting streak of the season (17 games), in addition to posting 25 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI contests.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
