#5 SIUE 1, #8 MOREHEAD STATE 0
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Mckenna Wigfield scored from 19 yards out from a corner kick from Claire Nieroda as SIUE women's soccer defeated Morehead State 1-0 in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Korte Stadium.

SIUE, the No. 5 seed, moves on to face fourth-seeded Lindenwood in the OVC quarterfinals. That game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Charles, Missouri.

Wigfield gathered the ball on the far side from Nieroda's corner kick. It was Wigfield's first goal of the season while it was Nieroda's OVC-leading eighth assist of 2026.

The Cougars, which finished off the 2026 season as the only OVC team without a loss on their home field, outshot the Eagles 9-6 with Nieroda taking five for SIUE.

Morehead State, the No. 8 seed, had two shots on goal in the second off SIUE fouls, making SIUE goalkeeper Sarah Bozeman face a late Eagles charge. Bozeman would record her second shutout of the season in just her first game of the season against OVC opponents due to a mid-season injuries.

Hailey Repreza led the Eagles with three shots. Amira Hendrick went the full 90 minutes for the Eagles in goal and took the loss.

#6 SOUTHERN INDIANA 1, #7 WESTERN ILLINOIS 0
EVANSVILLE, Ind.
- University of Southern Indiana Women's Soccer advanced past Western Illinois University 1-0 in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Strassweg Field Thursday night after freshman forward Brylee Patterson scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes left.

USI Women's Soccer (4-9-6, 2-2-3 OVC) ousted Western Illinois (3-16-0, 2-5-0 OVC) in the 6-7 matchup, posting the Screaming Eagles' second straight victory overall, the third OVC Tournament win for USI over the last two seasons, and the first OVC Tournament win on USI's home field.

The Screaming Eagles generated multiple quality chances throughout the contest, totaling 19 shots and seven on target. 14 of the 19 shots and all seven on goal came in the second half. The breakthrough came in the 86th minute when Patterson scored the game-winner and her first career goal on a shot from distance outside the box, at a tough angle, that sailed over the Leathernecks' goalkeeper and under the crossbar. Patterson became the fourth USI freshman to score this season.

Patterson was one of four Screaming Eagles to fire three shots on Thursday, joining junior defender and All-OVC Second-Team selection Emma Schut, junior forward and reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week Josie Pochocki, and freshman midfielder Shea Krakowski. Patterson had two attempts go on goal, matching a team high with junior defender Ava Hess.

USI's defensive unit was also sharp, limiting Western Illinois to 10 shots and only two on goal. The Leathernecks got off only one shot attempt in the first half. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper and All-OVC Second-Team honoree Merrick Schwalbach made two saves, notching the eighth clean sheet of the season for her and the Screaming Eagles.

With Thursday's victory, USI Women's Soccer advances to Sunday's quarterfinal round of the OVC Tournament for the fourth straight year. The Screaming Eagles will also make a return for a rematch of last season's quarterfinal victory against Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. The Panthers had a first-round bye and the No. 3 seed in this year's tournament.
