For the third year, as part of events leading up to the 2026 OVC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships (which will be held March 4-7 at the Ford Center in Evansville), the league is continuing its Adopt-a-Classroom Program.
The program, sponsored by
Field & Main Bank, connects each OVC member institution with an elementary school classroom in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC). The goals of the initiative are to provide positive, educational and fun experiences for students in the Evansville Region while supporting connections between the OVC and Evansville community, which has been home to the OVC Basketball Championships since 2018.
Eleven (11) different classrooms have been selected for the event, with each of the classrooms being assigned to one of the 11 OVC member institutions.
Each classroom will receive institutionally-branded items from their OVC school in order for them to show their support for their adopted team. Additionally, each classroom will participate in two Zoom engagement sessions with their OVC school. The interactive sessions, which include both women's and men's student-athletes and coaches, will focus on sportsmanship, perseverance, leadership and teamwork among other topics.
“Field & Main’s purpose statement is to ‘Build Community,’ and one of our favorite ways to do this is by sponsoring and helping strengthen communities that we serve by investing in organizations and initiatives that share in our vision for developing healthy, vibrant and collaborative communities.” said Scott Davis, Chairman & CEO of Field & Main Bank. "Field & Main Bank® believes that banking starts with relationships. Here, you’re a friend, a neighbor, and then a customer."
During the men's quarterfinals on Thursday, March 5, the classrooms and their teachers will be honored on the court at the Ford Center. For more information on this year's OVC Basketball Championships, visit
