Eastern Illinois' Bryce Riggs has been named a semifinalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced on Wednesday.

A total of 43 pitchers were selected as a semifinalist for the National Pitcher of the Year award. The semifinalists come from 17 different conferences and one independent program.  

Riggs has been dominant both in the OVC and across the NCAA. In 62.0 innings of work, he holds a 6-1 record with a 2.61 ERA. He also has recorded 60 strikeouts and has only given up 19 walks.  In the OVC, Riggs ranks 1st in opposing batting average at .158, 1st in strikeouts with 60, third in wins with 6, and 2nd in both runs allowed (18) and hits allowed (34).  

Riggs ranks 1st in the NCAA in hits allowed per nine innings at 3.86 and 1st in WHIP at 0.72. He also ranks 4th in complete games with two on the season.
