After a strong showing in the Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team will get another chance to show its skills as it has accepted the invitation to the fourth GOLFWEEK National Golf Invitational Championship.
The tournament will be held May 21 through 24 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.
"I'm thrilled for the guys to have an opportunity to play in the postseason," said Tech head coach Polk Brown. "Obviously, we would have loved to have won OVC, but this is a great opportunity for the team and especially the seniors to finish the 25-26 season on a high note. We're excited to get out to Arizona and compete. I can't thank Lance Ringler enough for the chance to go out there."
The format follows the traditional college structure with each team fielding five players and counting the four best scores. Individual and team champions will be determined after 54 holes, with a playoff for team and individual play if needed.
The men's individual winner will also earn an exemption to compete in the PGA's Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda, on Oct. 22-25.
The Golden Eagles finished third in stroke play to earn a berth in match play in the OVC Championship. Tech then defeated UT Martin 5-0 to face Little Rock in the championship round, falling to the Trojans.
