As the calendar turns to July 1, the Ohio Valley Conference officially begins its 79th academic year, entering 2026-27 with nine member institutions united by a shared commitment to competitive excellence, academic achievement and an outstanding student-athlete experience.
"The start of a new academic year is always an exciting time because it represents new opportunities for our student-athletes, coaches and institutions," said OVC Commissioner Matt Wilson. "The Ohio Valley Conference has built a remarkable tradition over the past 78 years, and our focus is on building upon that legacy while continuing to position the Conference for long-term success. We have tremendous institutions, outstanding leadership across our campuses, and great momentum as we look toward the future."
The 2026-27 season will feature championship competition across the Conference's 19-sponsored sports while continuing a tradition that spans nearly eight decades. As the OVC begins its 79th year, the Conference remains committed to providing exceptional championship experiences, supporting student-athlete success, and strengthening the league for years to come.
