Tennessee Tech's Scott Stallings is included on the list of collegiate golfers receiving All-America recognition for 2006, announced this weekend by Golfweek.com.
A junior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., Stallings was named honorable mention All-America following an outstanding season in which he captured OVC Player of the Year and placed 30th at the NCAA National Championships.
During the 2006-2007 season, Stallings finished in the top 10 eight times and earned all-tournament honors at seven events. He was medalist three times, and was selected once as the National Player of the Week.
The first golfer in Tech history to receive national recognition as an All-American, Stallings joins Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State and Luke List of Vanderbilt as the only three collegiate players from the state of Tennessee named to the All-America teams this season.
In addition to the Ping All-America teams, the national website also annnounced recipients of the Jack Nicklaus Award, Phil Mickelson Award, and All-Freshman teams.
Pablo Martin of Oklahoma State claimed the Jack Nicklaus Award. Martin won two events this season with eight additional finishes in the top five. He placed out of the top 10 only once this season.
Oklahoma State's Jonathan Moore was named the Phil Mickelson Award winner, which is given to the nation's outstanding Division I freshman golfer. Moore won his final three events of the season - the NCAA Championships, the Central Regional and The Maxwell. He also posted three other top 10s.
