Co-Male Track Athletes of the Week:

Jacob Korir, Sr., Nairobi, Kenya - Eastern Kentucky

            Korir ran and won his second race of the indoor track season, this time winning the mile run with a time of 4:11.98.  The time put him first on the OVC Best List.

 

Jason Springer, So., Minier, Ill. - Eastern Illinois

            Springer set a personal record in the 800 meter run (1:53.74) while taking second at the Illinois Invite.  Springer’s time is the fastest 800 meter mark in the OVC this season.

 

Female Track Athlete of the Week:

Dominique Holmes, Sr., Beaufort, SC. - Tennessee State

            Holmes improved her Conference leading time in the 200M (24.42) while also winning the 400M (56.09) at the Carle/Health Alliance Classic in Champaign, Ill.

 

Co-Male Field Athletes of the Week:

John Berry, Sr., St. Louis, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State

            Berry posted an event winning leap of 23’08.00” in the long jump at the Gene Edmonds Cup. 

 

Obe Eruteya, Sr., Chicago, Ill. - Eastern Illinois

            Eruteya finished first in the triple jump (48’09.00”) earning EIU’s only first place at the Carle/Health Alliance Classic.  He also placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 21’01”.

 

Female Field Athlete of the Week:

Molly Bartkiewicz, So., Westlake, Ohio - Austin Peay

            Set a school record in the pole vault on her way to a sixth place finish at the Gladstein Invite in Bloomington, Ind.  Bartkiewicz’s vault of 11’06.50” places her first on the OVC Best List.
