SPARTANBURG, S.C.
- In a vote that nearly paralleled the Sports Network Poll released earlier this week, two Ohio Valley Conference schools were ranked in the first Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Coaches Poll which was released on Thursday.

Eastern Illinois was tabbed 18th in the poll, the exact spot they were picked in the Sports Network poll, while Eastern Kentucky came in at No. 21, which was one spot below their rank in the other poll.

Two other OVC schools received votes in the FCS Coaches Poll and missed out on the Top 25. Jacksonville State was unofficially tabbed 31st while UT Martin was another one of the 27 total schools who fell under the Others Receiving Votes category.

Three-time defending FCS national champion Appalachian State received all 24 first-place votes and was tabbed the preseason No. 1 nationally.
After a 10-1 record in its final season in the Great West Conference, North Dakota State, now in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, came in at No. 2. Rounding out the top 10 were James Madison, Northern Iowa, Massachusetts, 2007 FCS semifinalist Richmond, Montana, 2007 FCS runner-up Delaware, Eastern Washington and McNeese State.

The FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and is administered by the Southern Conference.
