UT Martin's Lester Hudson Named Honorable Mention Associated Press All-American 3/31/2009 5:00:00 AM MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin's Lester Hudson continues to watch the postseason accolades roll in as he was named honorable mention on the Associated Press' All-American Team today. This is the second consecutive year that Hudson has been named on the AP All-American team, making him the only men's basketball player in program history to accomplish that feat. Hudson, who was also the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year for a second consecutive season, became the first-ever AP All-American Team member at UT Martin last season. After one of the best all-around seasons in league history a year ago, Hudson, the OVC preseason Player of the Year this season, put together another season to remember this year. Hudson averaged 27.5 points a contest, which was second nationally (trailing only Davidson's Stephen Curry). He scored 20 or more points in the first 26 games of the season, becoming the only player in Division I to accomplish that feat. He has scored 30 or more points in 11 games this season, including a career-high 42 points against Tennessee Tech in the first round of the OVC Tournament. But Hudson did more than just score, as he had 11 double-doubles this season, and was one of just 13 players nationally who average 5-plus point, 4-plus rebounds, 4-plus assists and 2-plus steals per game (teammate Delrico Lane is another one of the 13 players). Hudson also led the UT Martin team (and ranked third in the OVC) in rebounding (7.9 rebounds/game), his 2.3 steals per game ranks 21st nationally, his 3.3 3-pointers made/game was 12th and his 88.1 percent free throw percentage was the 12th-best nationally. The Memphis native was named OVC Player of the Week seven times this season (including five weeks in a row at one point) and 11 times in his two-year career; both are OVC records. Hudson is also one of only 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS award, which is based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete who displays accomplishments across four pillars (classroom, community, character and competition). Hudson has also been named to the FoxSports.com Mid-Major All-American Team, United States Basketball Writers Association Division I All-District (IV) Team, National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I All-District Team, while also earning spots on the All-OVC First Team and OVC All-Tournament Team. 2009 ASSOCIATED PRESS ALL-AMERICAN TEAM FIRST TEAM Blake Griffin, Oklahoma Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina DeJuan Blair, Pittsburgh James Harden, Arizona State Stephen Curry, Davidson SECOND TEAM Hasheem Thabeet, Connecticut Ty Lawson, North Carolina Luke Harangody, Notre Dame Jodie Meeks, Kentucky Jerel McNeal, Marquette THIRD TEAM Terrence Williams, Louisville Sherron Collins, Kansas Toney Douglas, Florida State Sam Young, Pittsburgh Gerald Henderson, Duke HONORABLE MENTION Lester Hudson, UT Martin Jeff Adrien, Connecticut Josh Akognon, Cal State Fullerton Cole Aldrich, Kansas Alex Barnett, Dartmouth Marqus Blakely, Vermont Craig Brackins, Iowa State Michael Bramos, Miami (Ohio) Jon Brockman, Washington Brandon Brooks, Alabama State John Bryant, Santa Clara Chase Budinger, Arizona DeMarre Carroll, Missouri Jeremy Chappell, Robert Morris Dionte Christmas, Temple Earl Clark, Louisville Darren Collison, UCLA Dante Cunningham, Villanova Devan Downey, South Carolina Tyreke Evans, Memphis Levance Fields, Pittsburgh Jonny Flynn, Syracuse Kenny Hasbrouck, Siena Jordan Hill, Arizona Matt Howard, Butler Matt Kingsley, Stephen F.
