SIU EDWARDSVILLE 59, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 57
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.- Melia Duncan scored a game-high 18 points, including a clinching free throw with four seconds left, as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville held on for a 59-57 women's basketball road victory over Southeast Missouri at the Show Me Center.

SEMO had a chance to take the lead in the final moments when Duncan mishandled the ball out of bounds with 23 seconds left. The Redhawks' Patricia Mack missed a layup which Duncan rebounded and then drew the shooting foul from Mack.

SIUE, which won for the second straight game over an Ohio Valley Conference opponent, improved to 6-17 while SEMO fell to 7-14. SIUE is now 3-1 this season against OVC teams.

Duncan was one of three Cougars in double figures. Raven Berry and Ashley Bey each scored 12.

Bey put solid numbers up on offense and defense. The Cougar senior also turned in six assists, five steals and five rebounds.

SIUE did not lead for the first 19:54 of the first half. Down by five with about a minute to play, the Cougars made a 7-0 run at the end of the half capped by a layup by Duncan with six seconds left.

The Cougars led for most of the second half, fending off SEMO comebacks.

The biggest difference in the game was SIUE's ability to get the turnover and turn it into points. SEMO committed 24 turnovers, and SIUE converted it into 26 points. The Cougars finished with 15 steals, including five each from Bey and Berry.

Mack was the only Redhawk in double figures. She scored 13 and added a team-high eight rebounds.
