Phil Steele Magazine recently hit newsstands, dishing out preseason All-American and Top 40 predictions, as well as a conference-by-conference breakdown across the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Tennessee State senior defensive back Eugene Clifford was tabbed a second-team All-American by the publication, while Jacksonville State senior defensive back T.J. Heath, Eastern Kentucky junior defensive back Jeremy Caldwell and Austin Peay senior kick returner/running back Terrence Holt were each named third-team All-Americans.
Phil Steele Magazine also picked the Top 40 teams in the FCS nationally, naming Eastern Illinois No. 19, Jacksonville State No. 21 and Eastern Kentucky No. 32 entering the 2010 season.
In a breakdown of the OVC race, Eastern Illinois and Jacksonville State were picked as co-favorites with Eastern Kentucky picked third. UT Martin, Tennessee State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech were predicted too close to call and tied for fourth, followed by Austin Peay in eighth and Murray State in ninth. The publication also went on to pick a first-team and second-team All-OVC squad (which are listed at the bottom).
The OVC will announce its official predicted order of finish preseason poll and Preseason All-OVC teams on Monday, July 26 as part of its annual Media Day festivities.
