Seven OVC Football Student-Athletes Named to Capital One Academic All-District ? Teams

Seven Ohio Valley Conference football student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District ® football teams as selected by CoSIDA.

The selections included one student-athlete from District II, five from District III and one from District VI. The selections were Austin Peay's Reese Bulmash, Josh Carroll and Iosua Siliva, Eastern Kentucky's Emory Attig, Southeast Missouri's Bradley Montgomery and Tennessee Tech's James Normand and Corey Watson.

Each of the seven were first-team selections and for making the first-team each will have his name appear on the national ballot for consideration for Academic All-American. The Capital One Academic All-America football team will be announced on Thursday, December 8.

To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. District II selections come from schools located within the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. District III selections include schools from the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. District VI selections are from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Bulmash, a sophomore defensive lineman, carries a 3.71 G.P.A. in finance. This year he has 15 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble in nine games.

Carroll, a sophomore linebacker, has a 3.66 G.P.A. in health and human performance (K-12 teaching). In nine games this season he has 59 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, a sack and three quarterback hurries.

Siliva, a sophomore defensive lineman, has a 3.90 G.P.A. in agriculture (sustainable development). In nine games this year he has 15 tackles, 3.0 tackles-for-loss, 2.0 sacks and a quarterback hurry.

Attig, a senior defensive lineman, was the recent recipient of the prestigious OVC Scholar-Athlete Award. He currently holds a 3.84 G.P.A. in business after already completing a degree in communications. This marks the third-straight season he has been named an Academic All-District selection. This season he has 41 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss and four quarterback hurries.

Montgomery holds a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. in computer science. He registered 32 tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble in nine starts this season.

Normand, a sophomore offensive tackle, owns a 3.90 G.P.A. in accounting. After beginning his career last season in a backup role, he was elevated to a starting role for the final two games of his rookie year. This season he has started all eight games for a Golden Eagle offense which ranks among league leaders in several categories.

Watson, a senior defensive back, has built a 3.65 G.P.A. in exercise science and physical wellness. He currently ranks first in the OVC and 19th in the nation in interceptions,
and fourth in the OVC in passes defended. In addition to his prowess in pass defense, Watson ranks fifth on the team in total tackles with 50.
