CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - UT Martin defeated Morehead State, 2-1, to claim its first ever Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship title. The Skyhawks used a pair of second half goals to record the victory.
Morehead State's Brittany MacLennan got the Eagles on the board as she scored in the 35th minute.
UT Martin's Melissa Govea tied the game at 1-1 as she netted her third goal of the season. Just four minutes later, Lucy Pater scored the game-winning goal.
The Eagles goalkeeper Katie Blevins made one stop in the game while UT Martin's Mariah Klenke made a trio of stops.
The Skyhawks earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will find out their opponent during the selection show on Monday at 3:30 p.m. CT.
