EASTERN ILLINOIS 2, BELMONT 1
CHARLESTON, Ill. -  Senior Kristin Germann scored her second goal of the match only one minute into overtime to lift the Panther women’s soccer team over Belmont, 2-1, on Friday evening at Lakeside Field. EIU improves to 6-12-1 (4-5-1 OVC) on the year.

Germann got a one-touch pass from three yards out on the right from freshman Hannah Miller who played the ball off a throw in by junior Caitlin Greene. Belmont dropped to 7-8-2 (3-4-2 OVC) with the loss.

In the 39th minute, Germann gave the Panthers a 1-0 advantage with a goal from five yards out on the right. Germann played her own rebounded ball off the Bruins goalkeeper who made a save on her previous shot on goal. Belmont’s Cassie Blasé eventually tied the match at one with her first goal of the season in the 75th minute, nailing a shot from 25 yards out on the right – just outside the top of the box.

Germann paced the Panther offense with seven shots (six on goal) while Jessie Morgan added two shots on goal. A total of five Belmont players each had one shot on goal as no Bruin had more than one shot in the match.

EIU took 11 more shots (18-7) than Belmont, including five more shots on goal (10-5). The Panthers took one more corner kick (5-4) than the Bruins while Belmont committed two more fouls (8-6).

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Taldone (2-10) took the win in goal for EIU, making four saves and surrendering one goal. Nicole Berner (7-7-2) recorded the loss for Belmont, allowing two goals while making eight saves.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 5, TENNESSEE TECH 1
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - After scoring only two combined goals while starting 0-5-1 away from Houck Stadium, the Redhawks (5-9-4, 4-3-2 Ohio Valley) erupted for a 5-1 win at Tennessee Tech.

Kasey Crowden scored two goals and Torey Byrd scored two goals apiece and Hayley Abbott struck once to strengthen the Redhawks' grip on a spot in next week's OVC Tournament. Southeast sits in a fourth-place tie in the standings and the top six teams qualify for the postseason tournament.

Southeast opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Paige Luehmann's shot caromed off the goal post. The rebound found Byrd, who booted the ball into the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season, all of which have come in OVC play.

That tally was the lone marker in the first half as the Redhawks took a lead into halftime for the second time this season. Byrd's goal also marked the fourth time Southeast opened the scoring.

Southeast wasted little time adding to its lead in the second half. Crowden blasted a shot from the top of the box into the bottom corner of the net for her first career goal in the 48th minute. Jenna Collingridge earned her first career point with an assist on the play.

It took only 26 seconds for the Redhawks to up their lead to three goals as Abbott headed in a long throw-in from Amy Ward to make it a 3-0 contest. That goal was Abbott's second of the season.

The Golden Eagles (5-11-1, 3-6-0 OVC) spoiled Renee Kertz' shutout bid in the 65th minute when Jacquie Watkins knocked in a crossing feed from Kris Cambron, drawing TTU back to within two goals.

Undeterred, Southeast went right back on the attack and regained its three-goal cushion two minutes later when Abbott set Crowden up in front of a wide open net for her second goal of the match to make it 4-1.

Byrd scored her second goal of the contest on assists from Jacey Boyko and Ashley Brendel with 1:14 left to cap the scoring.

The Redhawks outshot the Golden Eagles, 18-11, and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Kertz made four saves to help extend Southeast's unbeaten streak to four matches (3-0-1).

EASTERN KENTUCKY 1, MURRAY STATE 0
MURRAY, Ky. - It was a memorable homecoming for Eastern Kentucky University senior Hayley Wright on Friday, as the Murray, Ky. native scored a goal late in the second half to lift the visiting Colonels past Ohio Valley Conference foe Murray State, 1-0, at Cutchin Field.

EKU’s 10 overall wins and six conference wins are the most in program history.

With both teams locked in a defensive battle for much of the afternoon, Wright finally broke through in the 72nd minute as she took advantage of a Murray State turnover and beat Racer goalkeeper, Latisha Stevenson, one-on-one to notch the game-winner. It was Wright’s second goal in EKU’s last three games.

Murray State (4-12-0, 2-7-0 OVC) outshot EKU, 19-14, in the game; however, the Racers could not take advantage of their edge in opportunities. EKU junior Nikki Donnelly led all players in the game with four shots, two of which were on goal.

Senior Deja Tennon, junior Lauren Fant and sophomore Paige Larkin all went the distance on an EKU backline that has now recorded four shutouts on the season.

Freshman Erika Wolfer, meanwhile, made seven saves in goal for the Colonels to earn her third shutout of the fall.

AUSTIN PEAY 1, MOREHEAD STATE 0
MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Morehead State soccer team posted a 15-5 advantage in shots, but a goal by senior Emily Perkins in the 20th minute was all Austin Peay needed in a 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference victory on Friday night at Jayne Stadium.

The Lady Govs, who entered the weekend second in the OVC standings, improve to 10-7-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league play.  The Eagles, who have been eliminated from the OVC Tournament, slip to 1-12-4 on the campaign and 1-5-3 in conference action.

Perkins netted her sixth goal of the year, from approximately 18 yards out, off an assist from junior Andy Quiceno, who provided the through ball.  Perkins now has a team-best 31 points on the season, while Quiceno notched her third assist and 15th point.
In addition to being 10+ in shots, the Eagles registered a 6-1 upper hand in corner kicks.  The Lady Govs recorded a 3-2 edge in shots on goal and both goalkeepers were credited with two saves.

Junior Tatiana Ariza tallied a match-high three shots for APSU.  Nine different MSU players attempted a shot, with six individuals collecting two each.

The defeat was Morehead State’s seventh this season by just one goal.

UT MARTIN 3, JACKSONVILLE STATE 1
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Jacksonville State soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to UT Martin on Friday night in Ohio Valley Conference soccer action at the JSU Soccer Field.

The win secured at least a share of the OVC regular season championship for the Skyhawks. UT Martin will serve as the host for next week's OVC Soccer Championship that gets underway on Thursday, Nov. 1.  UTM improved to 7-1-1 in the OVC and pushed its overall mark to 10-5-3.  The loss dropped Jax State to 3-5-1 in the league and 10-7-2 overall.  The setback was the third consecutive for the Gamecocks and will need positive results in the regular season finale on Sunday against Southeast Missouri.

UTM took the early lead in the contest and then had to stave off a late Gamecock charge in the second half.  UTM's Alyssa Curtis scored the first of three Skyhawk goals in the 14th minute as she drilled a shot from the top of the box and curled it into the left corner of the net.

The score would remain 1-0 until the 56th minute as UTM looked to add the always-important insurance goal.  Midori Sera took advantage of a deflected ball and punched it into the back of the net to give UTM a 2-0 edge.

JSU would slice the UTM lead in half in the 72nd minute after freshman Kelsey Bright notched her team-best eighth goal of the season.  The Kingwood, Texas-native belted a ball from the left side into the left corner of the net for the goal and give Jax State momentum in the final 18 minutes of the match.

UTM had a balanced attack with nine shots in each half and had a plus-eight advantage in shots.  JSU turned in ten total shots in the contest.

UTM put the finishing touches on the match with a late goal to seal the win and the right to play on its home pitch for the postseason event.  Dominika Conc tallied the final goal of the night in the 89th minute.
