MALE TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Blake Carter, Jr., O’Fallon, Mo - Southeast Missouri State
Carter set the Southeast Missouri school record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.76 at EIU Early Bird on his way to winning the event. His 6.76 tops the OVC Best List so far this season. Carter next meet will be at the Wisconsin Invite January 19.
 
Thijs Nijhuis, So., Sparkaer, Viborg, Denmark - Eastern Kentucky
Nijhuis defeated a field of 22 runners on at the Kentucky Invitational, edging his nearest competitor by less than a second. It was his first time competing in the mile in his career. He also set an OVC best for this season. Nihuis’next meet will be the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky on the 25th and 26th on January.

FEMALE TRACK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Ann Eason, So., Lexington, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky
Eason was the top collegeiate finisher in the women’s 3,000m at the Kentucky Invitational. Her time of 9:39.29 is currently the 10th  fastest in the country. It was a personal best for her, and the third-fastest in school history. The time is also the best in the OVC this season by nearly 40 seconds. Eason’s next competition will come in the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky on the 25th and 26th of January.
 
Chantelle Grey, Sr., Missoula, Mont. - Austin Peay
At the Ed Temple Invitational, Grey, bested the competition in the 800m by nearly 5 seconds with a time of 2:16.30. AT the UAB Invitational in the 800m she came a close 2nd with a time of 2:15.37. Her time at UAB leads the OVC by more than 5 seconds. Grey will compete next at the ETSU Invitational January 18 & 19.

MALE FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Mick Viken, Jr., Rolling Meadows, Ill. - Eastern Illinois
VIken picked up the 2013 indoor season where he left off from last year as he passed his own school record winning the pole vault at the season opening EIU Early Bird. Viken cleared 17’5” to win setting a new school and meet record. The mark currently ranks 8th this season in the NCAA.
 
Reggie Miller, Jr., So., Kansas City, Mo. - Southeast Missouri
Miller, Jr. opened his season at the SIU Saluki Open in impressive fashion by breaking the Southeast Missouri school record in the high jump with a mark of 7’0.25” on his way to victory in the event. The jump by Miller was also the highest mark by an OVC Athlete since Ian Winston of Eastern Illinois in 2009-10. Miller will compete next at the Wisconsin Invite January 19.

FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jade Riedbold, Jr., Powell, Ohio - Eastern Illinois
Riebold continued her solid performance in the pole vault winning the season opeing EIU Early Bird meet in the event. Riebold, who earned All-American honors last indoor season, cleared 13’4.50” in the season opening win. Her pole vault height is currently 5th and in the NCAA indoor ranks this season. Her next meet will be the EUI Invitational January 19.
