Austin Peay's Sean Bailey and Eastern Kentucky's Amandine Faouzi were ranked first on the Ohio Valley Conference tennis preseason top 10 players list as voted on by the leagues head coaches. Bailey topped the men's list followed by Tennessee Tech senior Syrym Abdukhalikov, Austin Peay junior Jasmin Ademovic, Tennessee Tech sophomore Alejandro Augusto, SIUE sophomore Marten Jonsson, Austin Peay sophomore Dimitar Ristovski, Jacksonville State senior Igor Santos, Tennessee Tech junior Vasily Eremeev, Jacksonville State senior Nenad Marcec and Jacksonville State senior Axel Sundberg.
Fauzi earned the No. 1 spot on the women's side followed by UT Martin junior Ivon Simic, Eastern Kentucky sophomore Melissa Gerristen, Austin Peay sophomore Onella Di Salvo, Murray State senior Ashley Canty, Eastern Kentucky sophomore Kristina Labeja, Southeast Missouri junior Elizabeth Nyenwe, Eastern Illinois junior Janelle Prisner, Jacksonville State junior Raisa Guasti, and Austin Peay sophomore Alison Carre.
Bailey earned 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year honors after posting a 7-0 league mark and going 15-3 overall in singles play. The senior teamed up with Dimitar Ristovski to go 5-3 in the OVC and 9-10 overall at the No. 1 doubles spots. He was just the second Governor to earn Player of the Year accolades.
Fauozi, a sophomore, was named the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. She was the first Colonel to earn Freshman of the Year honors. She finished the season with a 16-7 overall mark and a 8-1 OVC record at No. 1 singles. She posted a 7-1 league record at the No. 3 doubles spot.
