Babers was the OVC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and the AFCA Region 3 Coach of the Year for the second straight year.  Last year he was third in the Eddie Robinson Award voting after leading EIU from a 2-9 season in 2011 to a 7-5 record and OVC championship.

Tennessee State's Rod Reed was the only other OVC coach among the 21 finalists; Reed finished 18th overall (17 total points)
